Beyond The Ruins

The people of God had failed to keep their human commitment outlined in the covenants to Abraham, Israel, and David, so the city will come to ruin! BUT-- there is hope! Isaiah is called to deliver a message of hope to the people: salvation will come out of the ruins. As the people of God, we too are called to deliver that same message: There is hope beyond the ruin.

“Here am I, Send Me!”

Isaiah accepts the call to communicate a difficult message. This city will one day lie in ruins. But there is hope.

“See, I Am Doing a New Thing.”

God will not leave his people in the midst of the ruins. The Servant of the Lord is coming. God is doing a new thing. His people will sing a new song.

“He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities.”

The Servant of the Lord is a suffering servant. He lays down his life to bring us out of the ruins.

“Is not this the kind of fast the Lord has chosen...?”

“Is not this the kind of fast the Lord has chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and break every yoke?”
